Polkadot is a multi-chain platform that enables different blockchains to interoperate and share information seamlessly. Designed by Dr. Gavin Wood, one of the co-founders of Ethereum, Polkadot aims to enhance scalability and flexibility in blockchain development. Its unique architecture features a central relay chain that connects various independent blockchains, known as parachains, allowing them to run in parallel. The native token, DOT, is used for governance, staking, and bonding within the network. By facilitating cross-chain communication and resource sharing, Polkadot fosters a more connected and efficient blockchain ecosystem.
