Kusama is a scalable network built on the Polkadot framework, designed for developers to deploy and test new blockchain projects in a real-world environment. It serves as a testing ground for innovations and features that may eventually be integrated into Polkadot. Kusama operates with its own native token, KSM, which is used for governance, staking, and bonding. The network prioritizes speed and flexibility, allowing for faster updates and experiments compared to its more stable counterpart, Polkadot. This makes Kusama an attractive option for projects seeking to iterate quickly and gather community feedback before full-scale deployment.
